The Denial Syndrome

One of the most powerful tools for avoiding responsibility is denial. Once past denial, we have to admit a couple of hard things: we are in trouble, and we need outside help. This is hard work. Taking responsibility does not mean we have to accomplish the work of overcoming sin by ourselves.

The Good News of Jesus Christ is that he has overcome death and the bondage of sin. It is through him that we can be restored to the relationship God wants for us. We can be restored to life. But we have to accept help. We cannot suffer the solution for sin if we do not think we are sinners; we will not come for hearing if we will not admit we are sick.
